I was making a point, for years I always had a few dollars in the bank, I had debt, rent, other bills, but once I put my mind to it I saved more money.
Took on side work, kept my eyes out for cars that could make me profit, jet skis that made me money, and in one year my bank account gained, I havent looked back since keeping the same philosophy.

Yea I hear ya. My Savings has been at a stand still, because, soon as I get an extra $300 in there, something big comes up. Things are lookin up though, I don't want to sell the car or ditch voice lessons just yet.
I'm just used to seeing it grow quicker than not at all :P

I put away 10% every month.
I have been doing this since I first enlisted into the Army 13 years ago.
money in about 3K per year...thats all before interest or growth of mutual funds.
It should help with what I want to start in 7 years.

I'm a tight ***, if I don't need to spend it I don't. Never any CC debt, never a car loan (never bought a car that cost over 5k), always pay bills on time. The only debt is my home loan and plan on paying it off by the time I'm 35 (If I still live in this house at that time). I contribute the max my company will match to my 401k (up to 5% of pay at 50% match). After I pay all my bills I end up with ~30% of my paycheck still in the bank. I'd say I save ~20% per month all said and done.
I'm trying to figure out how the dude that lives in a payed for home still has no $??
