Shut up, i wasnt gonna say anything before but you guys are really starting to **** me off. My dad has suffered from an ED for the past 3 years, he's gone to counseling, taken meds and still can't get it up and its been extremely rough and stressful on the family. You guys can start being a bit more considerate now.

I think the reason for all the new cases of ADD is parents not Dr.'s. Most parents (most not all) are very lazy, and it's easier to say my kid has ADD and that's why he is not doing well or acting up. It's a cop out for parents in my opinion.
Doctors definetly overmedicate though. My dad is a manic depressive, and the Dr. just loads him up with all kinds of stuff. Oh that didn't work? Try this. Oh that didn't work? I think that most doctors don't really know the solution, they just guess and check so to speak.

I have a couple friends with ADHD, imo it is not BS. As said before a lot of people get mislabled, but there is a percentage of people who actually have a condition...

My cousin was manic depressive. Her doctors loaded her up with lithium, and then she died from an overdose.

Lithium ion batteries, yeah. It's also a medication that treats the manic stage of bipolar disorder.

Again there are 2 different arguments going on here. Is there such thing as ADD of course. Is it WAY over diagnosed OF COURSE.
Honestly you guys that have ADD surprise me, if I were you I would be pissed at the dr's for overdiagnosing it and undermining any credibility the disease may carry, not the people for saying it's over diagnosed or it's BS.
It's a result of over diagnosis, maybe you are placing you blame in the wrong place?

Technically I had ADD while I was in school as I couldn't sit still, never paid attention to the teachers or anyone else for that matter and was generally in my own little world most of the time. (Shutup Ed)
Someone once mentioned ritalin and my parents just laughed at them. He's hyper and intelligent and you want to make him take a drug for it?
Personally I didn't have ADD I just didn't give a flying rats *** about any of it and was busy thinking things that I found to be interesting. Still managed pretty good grades without paying attention.
Hell I'm doing that so far in college. Yeah just wait till Trig and Calculus. Maybe then I'll come down with ADD
I think 99% of the time it's more a factor of the schools being WAY to concerned with little Jr's SELF ESTEEM and not being concerned with them learning anything even if it IS hard at times. Plus the parents not paying attention to the kids cause they're too busy working their asses off to support their lifestyle and so on. (NO offense to those who are working their asses off just to put food on the table. Been there, done that!)
It simply takes discpline (GOD FORBID!) to learn something you're not terribly intrested in. Who knows maybe it'll come in handy later.
Excuse me I have to go load down next semester with tons of extra courses to make up for the fact that I dropped out of my freshman year of highschool.
Oh no wait I have ADD!

When I went to DC, I met a guy with ADD. We talked about ADD and he told me how he was an OG. Being an OG with ADD and going to AARP meetings was really rough on his ED. BTW, he said he had an ED. His ED was affecting his ADD because the AARP wouldn't pay his AAA bills. This way, when he quit his AARP membership, his ED became less present making the AAA more aware of the ADD.
