I would almost agree with you, but I don't think people with (or who claim to have) A.D.D. are stupid. Back in the day, we called that a short attention span, but now everything has to be a medical disorder. Sure, maybe it really exists, but the people I know who claim to have it can't understand why they lose interest in things, but don't notice that they're body is in a constant state of flux due to large intakes of sugar and caffeine, not to mention nicotine and alcohol. Throw some Ritalin in there, make it a sampler platter, and you're good to go.

Sugar makes it so that I can't think straight...yet nobody understands why I try and stay away from it. A good sleep schedule can go far, too, which I don't have.

everyone in the world has ADD except when it comes to something they enjoy doing.

Myself and about 5 bajillion people i know have been diagnosed with it, but everyone who "has it" seems to be cured when it comes to doing something they really enjoy. That's why ADD is such a huge excuse in schools, cause what kid enjoys being in school except for the really book-smart kids, who amazingly dont "have" add.

i think it's a big crock o' **** and yet im told repeatedly that i have it, ritallin does nothing but provide me with a means to get ripped and make money off friends (or it used to until i just quit taking it)

oh and joe i know people from about every race that have been diagnosed with "ADD".

in case no one caught that, i think ADD is a lie.

kevin.

I didn't say it was BS, I indicated that it's prolly misdiagnosed in the majority of the cases, seems like everyone has it these days and really what does being diagnosed with it mean? Are you going to take riddlin your whole life? I would rather not be on drugs for the rest of my life, my DR has already prescribed me too many as far as I am concerned.

I feel the same way. If every kid in elementary school is on meds, then there's nothing wrong with the kids, just the diagnosis. After being mislabelled so much, ADD gets a stigma, that it's diagnosed for people who can't sit still and have a short attention span. I'm sure there's more to it than that in genuine cases, but that's what the public is lead to believe it's all about.

and about being on drugs forever: I had a teacher for a couple classes in college. She said her husband didn't like the idea of their ADD son to be on drugs forever, so they tried different things. He eventually developed some kind of daily mental exercise that pretty much curbed that ADD as well as the meds did. He published a book about it; if someone wants I can find out the name and such.
