well.. if you still cant think of anything, you could always go in with the gf and help split the cost of whatever she is getting him, upgrade the gift, OR maybe you can get something that goes along with what she got him...
and hey if he needs tools, i think the best thing that's simple is the stripped bolt remover kits, they have them at sears, and they have just about all the sizes in the kit.
or mebbe something carbon fiber. and i know just what you mean about the model. i seem to be collecting gifts for myself as well.
