O.K. I'll add HK USP to the list of possibilities.

The Kahr line looks nice. But they are small. 6+1 and 7+1. Would be a good carry weapon but I think I'll stick with a little larger frame gun.

USA Guns

Here's another link thats good. It's the same company as the link above but gives the bottom line price. You don't have to search for a dealer or anything.

Desert Eagle is spot out if you're just doing home defense and target practice and don't want to spend a mint on a gun.

I don't like Glocks, but I'm prejudiced and admit it. When they first came out they sucked and were frankly dangerous. Same with Taurus.

Sig makes a good pistol and even better rifle. I would go with the .40 due to punch and carry power, I'm also simply not fond of 9mm rounds. Too many of them out there I suppose.

H&K is probably a better maker then sig, but they tend to be a bit more bulky.

Walther makes one hell of a handgun but it'll cost you to own it.

Look at springfield arms if you can find any, always shoot the gun before you buy if possible. What feels good standing still may pinch or hurt like hell when you fire it.

My personal preference in handguns is the Colt Python revolver, not that I own anything at the moment. .44mag model. I had to get custom grips for it to keep it from killing the web between my thumb and hand.

What are you using the gun for primarily? Mostly any caliber is fine for target shooting, home defense I like the .40 or 10mm, or even the .45 IF you've got some distance between you and your neighbors.

Glock 23, the 9mm and the 40 cal are almost the same. Both are really perfect self defense rounds. Good punch and good size.

Mines a 40, i for whatever reason like the feel of the 40 better.

Ditto I find it to be more accurate then the 9mm. Could well be a mental thing with me as for whatever reason I have an aversion to 9mm pistols.

".44 Magnum: The most powerful handgun in the world."

Even if you don't hit your target, the sound will scare them off.

Dirty Harry and Resident Evil sold me on this gun. Heh.
