Anyone know if a 1080i TV works well as a computer display?

works fine as long as the graphics card supports the resolution. I used to have an alienware hooked to my 1080i

Yeah, I'll make sure of that. HP is offering a DVD drive that can read HD-DVD and Bluray, seems like a safe way to play it at this point.

my friend uses a hdtv as a computer monitor.

you might have to bump up the windows dpi thing to be able to read. it just makes the font bigger really.

it works great.

and the divx stage6 thing can stream in hdtv, so weve watched a couple streaming hd trailers on it, and its in real hd and its great.

he also has his hooked up to cable. so he can switch back and forth of picture in picture the TV on a channel while having the computer taking up the main screen.

Its not really hd, the hddvd player i have upconverts, its still not near as good as an hd-dvd, if you need a new dvd player then i'd say its worth it, if not then i would wait for an hd-dvd player or similar.
