Fuckers went down big time, walmart dropped the low end model to $98 for the toshiba, i went to circuit city and got another 10% off. Anyhow, love the HDMI output, even makes reguar DVD's look 10 times better. It will be interesting to see which is the next betamax, however the cheapest blue ray player is still sitting at 400 or so.

but how much more are the disks themselves?

phinsup 11-03-2007 03:38 PM

it really depends, most of them are around $20, i rarely buy them to be honest I just rent and they don't charge any extra at netflix.

What type of cables does it use, component video? Or is there something new that my TV will need?

phinsup 11-05-2007 12:47 PM

HDMI is your best bet, you can also use component hd cables, but HDMI seems to be the latest and greatest in the HD market.

Baldy 11-05-2007 12:52 PM

Oh, I don't think my set has plugs for that. Oh well, I guess that's another $100 I can save for other crap.

If you have HD tv inputs u can still run it, if you dont have an hd tv then hd dvd is pretty much useless. Most of the LCD's i have seen have DVI or HDMI inputs as well as component hd inputs.

98 bucks? Wow, that's a good price!

Most of the HD movies are from 20-30 bucks, so it's not too bad. I gotta see if I have HDMI on my TV.

Blue Ray FTW!!

Like I could tell HD from standard video. I'm not investing a dollar in any newfangled HDTV until I get new glasses!
