Depending on the angle around 75 yards. This is just an estimate, I've never taken it down to a football field or anything. I don't know how well the carb cleaner will work. I think we tried using it once but it did not work so well. The hairspray works well because it stays in a mist where as the carb cleaner puddles quick. But I might be wrong so go for it.

my friends made one that shot over 100 yards... we shot it at the skool a few times since he lives across the street from teh skool

Way back when, my brother and I would make tennis ball cannons out of steel soda cans (they don't make them that way anymore!). We'd cut the tops and bottoms off all the cans except the bottom one and duct tape about seven cans together. Then punch a hole in the bottom can and squirt a shot of Ronsonol lighter fluid in it. Slide a tennis ball in the top, aim, and touch a flame to the hole in the bottom can. Phhoooooommmm! That thing would launch a ball faster than Pete Sampras' serve!

It's better if you coat the tennis ball so it's flaming when you shoot it.
