Ford baled Mazda out of the poo way back and took a 25% stake, which may well be more now I dunno.

I have heard a few good RE stories.

Ford were told to politely F off when it was suggested the get to use the rotary, Mazda insisting it's flagship powerplant remain in Mazda badged cars

A lot of Mazda product is badged as Ford, a Mazda Mx6 floorpan has been reskinned as Ford Probe but as far as I know drivetrain has always been Mazda in Mazdas & the Ford badged product

Mazdas major decision makers were all Ford people. Head honcho was VERY unsympathetic to the rotary engine. Renesis was worked on by the RE engineers and engine construction staff in their own time & prototype construction/testing was undertaken without senior managements knowledge. Renesis was presented to a vice-pres (Ford of Europe background) who was known to be receptive to the rotary as a running, economical & green complete package that had all criticisms of the motor addressed and off we go......

They must have hidden a great deal from Ford eyes because I can't see Ford people ever approving design & production of the 20B..............

A mate who has visited the factory told me that working in the rotary engine assembly area is considered an elite position.

I get a couple of response...the people who say ford own mazda has no info to back up...the others that say ford owns 1.3 or 30% can back it up.

The 4 circles in Audi's emblem has something to do with this...

Each circle represents an auto manufacturing company/division.

One for Porshe, one for VW, one for Audi and one for ??? I cannot remember too much soilent green in my diet... Let me know if anyone finds out.

The linked circles are the Auto Union logo. They built radical GP cars in the 30's

I am fairly sure they were the first to put the engine behind the driver.

Wow we almost didnt get the renesis. I guess ford doesnt want to get overtake by the rotaries in the near future. I knew that the ford officials didnt want the rotary to be produced and that the staff of maazda worked on there own time and in secrecy to work on the rotary. Are theyre any links i can go to to find out more on this ford mazda thingy. Also why did mazda sell stocks to ford????. What kind of economical problems were they in???

AUdi owns those comapnies ****. Whats the fourth one?

GM has swallowed up SAAB and AM General, and has strong ties with Suzuki. Ford owns Volvo, Land Rover, Aston Martin, Jaguar, and has a controlling interest in Mazda. Toyota has business ties with Subaru and GM.(GM also owns 30% of Subaru) Volkswagen owns Audi, Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, and Skoda, and as also a parent link to Porsche. Daimler-Chrysler is partnered with Mitsubishi. FIAT has swallowed up Ferrari, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati.

That's what I know.
