Be realistic, set goals, keep within your budget, never compromise, have the ability to put it down and leave it down until the itch comes back, allow yourself to become inspired, cut your losses, let go before it's time to. 15 projects and 10 years later I can say I have no regrets, burn outs will come and go, interests change, people change, always keep the big picture in focus, without overlooking the details.

 

I burned out on my project and abandoned it a long time ago.



I got the itch back last fall and am just about to try to start the thing for the first time since '04.



It's been a major pain in the *** and it knows it. I wouldn't be surprised if it blew up right away just out of spite

 

i'm tired! its hot, i pulled and dissasembled a miata engine and changed all the water hoses in the 79. tomorrow its still gonna be hot, and i have to put the miata back together

 

fedex lost my motor.... sorta prevents me from burning myself out.



the fact that i have every part possibly needed to turn a shell into a 500+hp nice looking, properly done car....EXCEPT 2 rotor housings is what burns me.



and now fedex is trying to NOT pay me my $2000.

Seeing the goons on the club circle the wagons after they got caught scamming people and then see the premier rx7 forum itself take measures to protect them just because they are advertisers and friends just about put me off rx7's all together.....Sometimes half the fun is the community around the cars.. Sometimes the problems with the cars is the community...



I immersed myself more so into the Japanese rotary community though, and that renewed my interest quite a bit,Learning another language along with aquiring an FD to build..This winter is building the T51r FD up along with the bp rew drop into my one FC while doing the p-port swap on the other FC...

 

I dont consider myself burned out anymore but i did do a burnout with the vert earlier.

 

I got burned out on the 20B in the GLC. Rotary20B's white FB with the NA 20B in it didn't help matters. Plus people around me started asking for help on their projects; in other words to DO their projects FOR them. It led to general burnout in all things rotary. I never get any help on my own projects, of which I have five at the moment. A couple of them were sharing parts but I'm actively working toward 1 engine per vehicle. Unfortunately they, along with other peoples projects, keep me from getting back into the 20B. Probably a good thing because it makes the itch grow stronger.



I had forgotten the reasons why I did this 20B project in the first place. Reading through some old threads helped. The itch is coming back a little, thankfully, but I'm still bummed about it as it's now been a year since it was last fired up, there is still a ton more work left to do, and since I came from the world of carbs and never really learned how to tune EFI, I can't for the life of me remember how or what to do about tuning the MegaSquirt. Just getting back into the basics of MS will take a fair bit of time.



At the rate things are going, I'll probably have to get the 4 rotor up and running before I can get back to the 20B. Gotta do a mockup first; gotta do a race car engine before that; gotta rebuild three 4 port 13Bs whenever I have the time between everything else... uhg.

 

damn, im hoping im not gonna end up that way, im gathering stuff for a turbo vert swap for mid-august, and i want the thing done by late august, at latest.

I don't get help in any of my projects either. It's sad. I help others, no one else helps me.

 

I broke my motor and likely won't have the cash to fix it until it's too cold out to drive it. I was seriously contemplating selling the car......
