For 5 years I've been modding, fixing, driving, and racing my 1989 TII hard. I would spend hours upon hours tinkering, fixing, rebuilding, waxing, washing whatever on my car.

I spent an entire winter in 2004 buy removing the rear subframe, stripping off the paint, repainting, replacing every single bushing on the car. Installing what not...

This year I blew the motor on the track. This was back in late May. It is now early July. I haven't done a single thing on the car yet. Even before the motor blew I wasn't into the car. I seem to be burned out. Tired of tinkering.

Do you suffer from car overload?

I think you suffer from it if you spend too much time in it. I get frustrated easily so I don't know how well I would do with a project car, or a troubled car.

I suffered from this some time ago, I bought my Jeep in 95, sold it this year. I had done basically a ground up restoration and 10 years later it was getting ready for another go 'round. Not to mention the time I spent working at a dealership, make it your carreer and it will tire you out really quickly. sooo, now I have 3 cars, 2 brand new ones with warranty and my rx-7 and when it breaks I am in no hurry to fix it, i do it when I have the time and money and if I get irritated I hang it up for a few days. I don't "need" it back together.

I dug my car out of the garage this past weekend, the inspection is 10 months over due, the registration expired 4 months ago.

I dont even care about going to register it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

I think the problem grew even worse when I started doing Time Trial type racing when I was always coming in 5th and tried to squeeze another 1 second of hte car. I would be tinkering adjusting.

However each time it visted the track something broke or needed fixing. Eac time I went I had to limp the car come on a 3 hour drive and fix it. Usually in 2 week turn around time, screaming at online stores and dealerships to get the part in faster so I could make my next race.

Now with the motor gone, I've hung up the towel from racing for a bit. It's too stressful and too difficult on a limited budget, no matter good you are at trying to re-engineer a 17 year old car ot try to beat a C5 corvette. It can only happen for so long, until the corvette guy cuts a cheque for X dollars and blows you out the water.

I took up mountain biking, been doing that 2 to 3 times a week now. Never had a chance to do that when the car was running. I even entered into 2 local mountain bike races. The thrill is still the same, but you meet more people.

Oh and the warranty on my subaru legacy GT just expired and some heatsheild somewhere is rattling around. GRRRR

im burned out also.

moved to Pennsylvania, and registered and insured the car for a lot cheaper than what i was paying in jersey.... and since then, i have needed to get the car inspected and i havent since, and havent driven the car since i brought it to PA in early May.

after all of the hours, money and effort spent on the car, the thought of driving it and spending more on it discourages me to even make the car ready to be driven. and the lack of A/C is not helping either

ive been there too, i'm not right now. ive got my 91 fc i'm not in a super rush to do any one thing, theres no time line, it doesnt have to win anyraces, or even go to the track, and it runs and drives nicely right now too.

the trick for me, is to not do it all the time, lol

I got sick of spending thousands of dollars on something that always needed something more. I still like the cars ... but dang ... I would rather buy an elise or something with the kind of money I was spending on that damn rx7.

I ended up selling it for a HUGE loss and went on to other stuff. I have too many hobbies as it is ... and they are a lot cheaper.

Im going to restore my other honda c70 scooter when I get home. With a 120cc bore and either try to adapt a sprint turbo charger or just a nitrous system. Its a hell of a lot cheaper than a car and in my opinion a lot more fun. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

ps. Does anyone on this message board have a running rx7?
