My wife and I have cell phones that share minutes. I recently downgraded our plan since we never used as much minutes, saving me $20 a month. If I got rid of the second line (my phone), I would save at least another $20 a month. I'm not sure about the taxes and stuff, but I'd probably save at least $50 a month with the downgrade and phone cancellation. Comcast Cable internet base price is ~$43 a month, so it works out nicely.
But the cancellation fee for the phone is $175, which is about 9 months of cell phone usage on the second line. When I downgraded our plan, I renewed the contract till May of 2006.
So what do you think? Is it worth it to pay the damned calcellation fee to get the cable internet? We currently have no internet at our house.

See what kind of internet deals your cell phone provider offers. With T-Mobile I was able to spend $25 on a bluetooth adaptor and now I use my bluetooth enabled phone as an internet connection for the laptop absolutely free for unlimited data transfer. I get 56k speeds and it doesnt cost a penny.

I would get the cable modem(the best ******* thing on earth), then go get yourself one of those "pre-pay" cell phones. Since you don't use it much, it would be the better choice for you, and you can have both cell and cable
