well thats what i assumed since he got called a ******
i thought the indian may be confused.
jk, but i dont think the guy will get fired if he had already clocked out. even if he had it would still be debateable bc he was off the property. it really depends on how understanding and young the manager of the store is. and how black he is, or wishes he was.

so erik was helping the indian guy, then the guy gets him upset so erik asks him to step outside
BUT, before doing that Erik tells the guy, "hold up, im going to clock out first"
erik is getting fired, no questions asked, he can defend himself all he wants saying the guy called him names, but in the end he is hired to be a representive of cingular, and I dont think they want people being asked to go outside so they can get punched, its not like he was defending himself, HE asked the guy to step outside so he can hit him.

Exactly rob, what some of you I dont think are getting is that when you are hired at a job, you are paid for your services that pertain to the job at hand. I'm pretty sure cingular didnt hire this kid to beat up their customers. Any way you cut it, the kid will get fired and should be fired already. Even if he was sticking up for himself, that is not what he is paid to do. Any employer knows this, especially one as big as cingular.
Lets say the customer takes this up with the cingular corporate headquarters, which Im sure he will. It comes back to your store, and Eric is still working there. Now not only will Eric be getting fired from higher ups, but the manager of that particular store will be getting fired too. Its not a matter of right and wrong based off a moral stand point, its based on being paid to represent the company and doing a job with specific tasks. If you cant do them, then you dont fit the job.
By all means maybe he should have hit the guy, but afterwards dont go whining when you lose your job.

Why whine about getting fired from Cingular? Its like working at McDonalds...
i think cingular is more like an applebees or golden corral.. but not a mcdonalds

maybe trying to get people to buy phones in the store is a shitty job, but im sure there are plenty of jobs in upper management that pay well and carry good benefits, beating up customers probably eliminates those options though
