A couple oldies but goodies are Macross plus and Ninja Scroll. Wings of Honneamise is pretty good and the old Starblazers (space battleship Yamato I believe) was always cool.

Anime is a contraction of the word animeshon. Animeshon is the romanji (but in Japanese) version of the word animation in English. There are no words in Japanese to differentiate between what some might consider to be high quality animation from Miyazaki-san for example to the animation style used for stuff such as Pokemon. Therefore they truly are all cartoons by translation. Only over here I've seen people make a big deal about them. Only over here I've seen people make distinctions betweens cartoons. There are a lot of cartoon snobs on the internet. I guess a lot of people have too much haute-culture to even lower themsleves to watching a Doraemon or Shin-chan.

I guess I got spoiled overseas. Rows and rows of cartoons of all types in the rental stores. You could rent two tapes for a whole week for a few bucks in some shops. All the "anime" you could want available ages before it would ever, if ever, come to America. I saw a lot of stuff that I've yet to see on tape or DVD over here.

Don't make me bring out the Chewbacca defense. Aww, now you've gone and made me do it!

"Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookie from the planet Kashyyk, but Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now think about it. That does not make sense.

Why would a Wookie, an eight-foot-tall Wookie, want to live on Endor with a bunch of two-foot-tall Ewoks. That does not make sense. But more important, you have to ask yourself what does this have to do with this case.

Nothing. Ladies and Gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case.

It does not make sense. Look at me. I'm a lawyer defending a major record company and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca. Does that make sense? Ladies and Gentlemen I'm am not making any sense. None of this makes sense. And so you have to remember when you're in that jury room deliberating and

conjugating the Emancipation Proclamation, does it make sense? No. Ladies and Gentlemen of this deposed jury it does not make sense. If Chewbacca lives on Endor you must acquit. The defense rests."
