I actually want to medal this year in track. I was gonna call it quits after cross country but i had a horrible season this year so I see this as a chance to redeem myself.

I don't know if its even possible for me to hit my goal but i definitely want to try. My goal is to run 1:50-2:00 in the 800, and run under 5:30 in the mile. My best this year in the 5k was 20:04, but at least it was consistant. Last two meets i ran 20:04 and 20:07. Last year in track i did horrible but i went roughly 70% the whole time. I ran the two mile and my best was like 11:45 i think. These are mediocre times but i think personally i can improve a lot simply because i've never pushed myself past 80% in cross country or track ever. And since my calves are so overdeveloped compared to the rest of my leg muscles they don't help out as much as they could if the rest of my muscles were where they should be. So i figure just off leg strength alone i should be into medal contention, the rest after that is training.

you have to split your days to fast days and slow days...

so you can alternate them ...... on your fast days run 4x600m's about 80% ,you can also run 4x1000m@80%(give yourself time to recover from these)you can run ladders of 200m, 400m, 600m, 800m, 600m, 400m, 200m rest about 3 mins in between runs, you can also run 1600m, start out with a decent pace run, and burst every other 200m.

on slow days...... you can go for distance runs..... run 3200m while sprinting the straightaways.......or just run around til you get tired or something

dont forgot to warm up before you stretch, and cool down for about 800m-1600m then do another set of stretches.... and when you get the chance do heal/toes, roll to the ball of your feet, and rock back to the heel(try to make your toes reach your shin) to prevent shin splints
sorry i'm a lil slo...i don't get it?....i'm about to start running again...but i get realllllly bad shin splits....so i just roll from my toes...to the ball of my heel and try to point my feet up?

roll from heal to toe... stressing the point when you get to your heal.... flex the muscles in the front/next to your shin (you do that by trying to get your toes to touch your shin.... it wont happen, but try)

damn.... you set pretty hard goals for yourself in the 800m and pretty slow goal for the mile....

dont even worry about your times until the beginning of the season, that way you have a rough idea of what you can run. if you plan on running sub 2min 800m, you should be running the mile about 4.5 mins

Wow, tahts a totally different ballgame than what i ran in cross country. This isn't as great of a comparison but when we ran 3 miles of intervals my best times for each of the following werent great. Granted i had to pace myself becuase we were runnig 3 miles but still thats why i picked 5:30 on the mile.

400 - 1:05

800 - 2:46

1600 - 5:45
