Next time go further South, to Playa Del Carmen. I hate resorts, and we stayed in this really nice condo on the top floor. Hot tub, ac, swimming pool which used the building walls as the pool walls, AWESOME place!!! Right there in town too, about a 3rd of a mile from the beach.,,,,BB

And that BS your hear about Americans being the loudmouth rude people? Not true. 99% of the

time when I hear someone speaking loudly and rudely in Mexico, I'd look up, and there was a European.

If you want to "get away from the resorts in mexico" shoot me a pm and I'll give you some spots to visit, most of the yucatan is pretty touristy.... in fact my theory is if you can book over the phone or via the internet it's prolly too touristy by my standards.

As far as americans traveling abroad I would not be suprised to see one jump up on the luggage turnbelt and start hollering "shock and awe you silly beaners, shock and awe!!!" actually moon palace was where i had to sit and listen to some georgian bastid tell me how sad it was that people had to live like "this' way based on the 30 minutes of culture he had soaked up in the tour bus on the way to the resort. a good percentage of americans live up to their reputation and of courses, not all do. Europeans have their asshats too, it's the canadians that are good travelers

To each his own i must say, banzai loves cruises, i loathe them and I've had my vacations where i have went to the mega resorts and even though they aren't my style i enjoyed them none the less. I've enjoyed stays in a stinky hut for $5.50 a night and i've enjoyed my stays in mega resorts for $200 a night.

They dont want to help, they just think it's sad that people live that way... "we" seem to feel that others can not be happy unless they live to our standard.

I've stayed in mud huts in panama, guatamala and honduras...

i've stayed in a condemned schoolhouse in nicaragua..

i've stayed in tents in kuwait, iraq and afghanistan...

i've slept on the bare ground in countless countries also...

i've stayed in $600 a night hotels in switzerland and italy..

i want to stay somewhere ****** nice during this weekend... could care less what it costs. We are only able to stay for 2 days due to her med school stuff, so i'd prefer to not be 100 miles from everywhere. Planning to do some diving on saturday and head out to the ruins on sunday before we have to fly back to SATx.

Scott... sending you a PM

my room in Hawaii was over $700 a night, stay in a nice place and you will see the difference. That was for a basic room too!

I remember a room I had in Myrtle Beach when I was in the marine corp that was really cheap, it was so disgusting I layed a towel on top of the blanket and slept on top of that

Sounds like a fishing trip my buddy and I went on a few weeks ago, haha. It was in a town of 763 people, and our coolers were emptied of bread, lunch meat, and chips. That's pretty desperate, lol.,,,,BB
