For those on PSN

At this point I think it's safe to say that PSN= EPIC FAIL. The fact that it's been down for what 17 days and they still can't even give an honest estimate of how long it will be down is an obvious sign of their incompetence. No matter what they are saying or doing, the fact that after 11 days they still had no idea how bad the damage was (by their own admission)only goes to show how horribly un-prepared they were for any issue.
Personally I would have more respect for them if they just came out and said, look we are going to have rebuild and test this whole setup, it's a huge job and we have limited staff to accomplish it, but we will have it done on Memorial Weekend, or 1st of July or whatever the case is.
It also annoys me a bit that Sony seems to think they are the victim. It's obvious that PSN was not a priority at Sony. Things were out of date, they were ill prepared and lax on security, you need no more proof then the fact that encrypting the database that held user details was simply too much trouble. The persons who's data was stolen are the victims, plain and simple. There is no other way to spin it. If you go to gun fight and forget to load your gun it doesn't make you a victim, it makes you an idiot.

Is this a cultural thing? When the Priuses (wtf is the plural of prius?) were having the acceleration problem, Toyota didn't come out an say anything for awhile. They gave the ol' Japanese "my bad" and it was months before anything really came to light.

Too bad Sony has such strict hardware control, otherwise we could offer a firmware update and start our own Sony gaming network! I could do the server side of things, find someone to do the software side and we'd be in business, but I don't want to get sued by sony.

Also I haven't been contacted about the credit card monitoring service that they were going to offer for free. If this is necessary, the details of how to activate it should have been available immediately and yet they are not.
