i tried this topic in 2nd gen specific- got like 1 reply. i've got an 87 T2 with a totally screwed body. i also have a 90 GXl shell with no motor or trans. what will i need from the T2 to go into the GXl? are there any sites out that may have some FAQ's on this or some sort of directions? thanks for your time!

Why are you going from S5 to S4?

Everything will swap out fine.

Your only major obsticle is goign to be the wiring harness. S-4 and S-5 are not the same.

This would be a good time to consider a stand alone ECU.

BTW- You could adapt the S5 for S-4 just be prepared to deal with a lot of re-wiring.
