Miata engine into a RX7?

no. the trans design is the same. so you can put the fc tail housing on the miata trans and it will go right into the fc

All that mazda reliability without the pesky side-effect of HP.

This would be actually going into a FB if I would do it. I've heard that with different pistons and a turbo you can make some real power with a 1.8. Does the miata trans have a removable bellhousing? I know that the N/A RX7 has a non removable bellhousing but if the mita's is I might be able to put it on a T2 trans. No one knows anyone who has done this?

the na rx7 and miata transmissions are the same design. you just need to put the fc or fb tailshaft housing on the miata transmission. the miata input shaft is a little longer, and the gearing is better in the miata trans.
t2 trans can be made to work in a miata but its a huge pain in the ***. there is no miata bellhousing for a t2 style transmission.
and tyson is kind of right, by the time you make "real power" in a miata, you're in it way more than a 13bt, and making almost the same power. price the miata stuff out its crazy money

If you are looking to do this to be different, just don't. You are looking at an engine that was used for good gas mileage, not performance.
Also, you gotta figure when the miata guys go nuts over 300rwhp, the Miata is also a HELL of a lot lighter than an RX-7 is.
Weigh out what you want to DO with the car, not look at how different the car would be.

Since I'm a Miata guy looking into a 13b swap, I'll chime in.
The 1.6 (B6) weighs about 30 lbs more than a 13b (n/a) and the 1.8 weighs about 50 lbs more than a 13b (n/a)...plus with both engines, you're moving more weight forward and upwards (not that its overly noticable to most drivers)
As far as the conversion, I see it being quite easy compared to a 13b into a Miata. Theres no need to modify the firewall or tranny tunnel either. And swapping the bell-housing from the Miata tranny to the FC n/a tranny is a very good idea. You'll get a longer 1st year, which is nice considering most turbo or s/c Miatas don't really use 1st much b/c its so short, and a taller 5th gear which helps interstate driving immensely.
