Engine Swap

Yes, radiator is mounted in the front with a 4" lip under the original bodywork getting enough air up to it.. that also stabilized the car under high speed.
Driveability was great, actually surprized us all.. we did a 297kph "measured with a gps" high speed run, could have gone faster but got some serious stability issues over 280kph.. i must say that this bug is one of the most insane cars i have ever been involved with.

thats insane!!!
with your radiator did you have any sort of heat spikes? from one or two of the other installs ive heard of they had them. like it took too long for the radiator cap to release pressure and what not.
and hearing of your guys tales with one has definately made me rethink doing one for myself.

no problems at all with heat spikes, we used a electric water pump with a dash mounted adjuster. Ran it a little hotter on normal driving, but turned it to cold " increased the ewp speed" under hard driving.
For up to 350hp you wont have any trouble with drive shafts and gear box "a 911Turbo box that is", and you get a insane bug..

only reason for choosing that car was the McPhearson front suspension, rest of the mods were..
FD streetported block
FD lim and uim
Halteck E6K
Flow ported T04e
Custom exhaust
Custom made adaptor to fit the 911 gearbox
And about a month of work.. =)

Hi there i am also completing a injetced 13b into a vw bug ( 1969 )
When faced with the electrical side of things one has 2 options
1. purchase a stand alone engine managment system such as the microteck lt8x ( reccommened) , motech , haltech
2. In order to use the standard ecu and harness it is necessary to use all electrical coomponents from the donar car including all the dash board components. if this is not done then it is impossible to get the engine to run in any other form other them limp mode ( not good)
i strongly reccomend the microtech setup as it comes with all the wiring harness and instruction manuals and built in map sensor
good luck...
