i ran some numbers on our na fc race car last night.

we started with a full tank of 16gallons, and made 2 stops of 10 gallons each. thats a total of 36gallons.

the race was 3 hours thats, 12gph. we do about a 2:10 lap thunderhill is slightly over 2 miles so we'll say we ran about 180miles and 90laps. thats about 5mpg, i plugged those numbers into rc's fuel calculator and we have a bsfc of .81-86. keep in mind this is a 175 FLYWHEEL hp non turbo car, it does run 10:1 air/fuel on the stock ecu.

our goal is to lean it out to 9.5gph, that and an s5 gas tank means we only have to stop once instead of twice

questions? thoughts?

if you really need to squeeze more fuel per tank out there are lots of creative ways to do it. I dunno about rx7s specifically, but most tanks have a filler located at a point in the tank that is not the highest, this is so on hot days the fuel vapor has somewhere to expand, in a race car this doesn't matter because you'll never have a full tank just sitting around. You can relocate the filler to the highpoint in the tank and squeeze out almost an extra gallon sometimes. Also there are creative things you can do with fuel lines to "hide" more fuel in case the rules for your class have a max fuel you are allowed to carry on board.

we can just put an s5 tank in, its 18.5 vs the s4's 16.5, that and slightly better mpg would mean we can get rid of a pitstop, in a 3 hour race

You'll get more power too! 10:1 without turbo must really be drowning that biotch.

yeah, although we didnt see any gains in the 13:1-13.5:1 area, we do have a whacked out setup on the car though
