when i listen to my car at idle, i can hear a high pitched whistle that sounds like a kettle sort of. at first i thought it was just the fans, but they weren't on. then i thought it might be that my belts were grinding on something but they were all good. what else should i check?

my boost is perfect. i'm positive that it has nothing to do with the internals. that's why i was looking more at the belts, because that's the only visable moving part.

check all of your pullies for the noise. there could be a bearing going out in one of them, and then it could also be the sir pump, if in fact it is still intact.....

is it consistent and continuous? or is it periodic and goes away after a few minutes? just at idle?

It could be a vaccum leak. Or just a regular Vaccum. I get a whisle noise from my fuel pump. Sounds strange but hey. It's a rotary.

it seems continuous but i just noticed it today so i really don't know exactly when it occurs. i wouldn't hear it over the exhaust if it occured during driving so i don't really know. i'll check it out some more later today.

I had a similar noise comming from my engine bay. I could only here it with the hood open standing next to the car. Dunno what it was. I'll see if it persists when I get my motor back together.

i think it's the air pump (that's the one on the far left right?). and the way it acted made me think that it was the bearing because every once in a while it would stop for a moment (not the belt, just the pulley part) weird huh?
