I have a 93 rx-7, and am trying to remove the pipe from the cat. I see a wire is connected to something, and am not sure what to connect it to when i remove the pipe. I don't plan on driving the vehicle for long without the exhaust.

The nuts were on so tight (and they were different sizes ) and i was unable to remove them with my socket wrench. Are these nuts reversable or non-removable? Ahhhh......

They are just stuck. You need to spray them with something to free them up. The wire you are probably looking at is a ground wire. Just find a place to ground it to. Why are you driving without your exh.? I wouldn't boost without the exh. You may spike real high and hurt your motor.

Thanks, and yes it should be loud. I probably couldnt keep it that way for long.

I just spent 8g's on a rebuild, and am afraid to of peaking, as any unnecessary detonation is not what Im looking for. Perhaps I should instead cut the muffler off at the back........

Y would you run it with no exhaust in the first place? As for the two different size nuts I think that's normal. At least it was the same on my car. As far as being tuff to remove I just got a really big breaker bar. OR you can use a jack at the end of the breaker bar to push up on it with a **** load of force. Be ready to break some sockets though. :smirk:

Well for an update: I couldnt undo those bolts, so i took my electric saw and chopped off the muffler, so now the exhaust is near the middle of the car.

Strangely, its not a whole lot louder, but it feels like its pulls harder, my wheels were even spinning in 3 gear.

it may have been less troublesome if you drove to a local shop and had them use air to remove the catback within minutes....

the cost would have been a lot less in comparison ...

meineke loosened some rusted studs in my old integra years back for 10 bucks...
