Pull type clutches, you gotta love them. Look into the top view plate and start undoing the bolts that attach the clutch to the flywheel. That's the only way I could do it with a stock clutch. I "think" if you can get a prybar inside, you may be able to undo the lock collar(whatever that thing is called).
I look like Buckwheat now from black dust from trying the prybar trick. I hadf no luck at al. I had a friend suggest the flywheel/clutch seperation aproach. Is that how you normally do it??
do it like I said. You'll be able to separate them at least and then you'll be able to see what to do next time to make it easier!

dave,

i know this is a dumb question, but did you take out the shifter? also. leave you trany in gear for instalation ease latter on.

like stated before. it is a pull type clutch. the presure plate needs to be unbolted from the flywheel before removing the trany.

use the window at the bottom of the bellhousing to do this. use a prybar ONLY to rotate the PP/flywheel. go all the way around the PP and take off all the bolts. (i thinkit is 6) and the trany will come right out.

installing it can go either way. you can bolt the PP to the flywheel using a clutch tool to hold the disk inplace while tightening the PP, then slide the input shaft in...or you can just place the both of them over the input shaft of the trany. and then tighten same way you loosened. (via the window and using a prybar to rotate. i find the second way easier.

eithewr way, dont forget the clip that goes on the throwout bearing. being as it is a pull type, it will pull the throwout bearing right away from the PP and you will have to drop yor trany all over again.

good luck

Sorry I was'nt around to tell you this but,you were wasting your time tring that prybar ****. unless you have done like 20 or more Fd clutches, it'a allways quicker to just unbolt the pressure plate. I went through that **** last weekend. I tried the prybar deal for 5 min. then just did it the easy way
