If you want the carpet swap to look good you have to pull the dash. Otherwise it will look like a hack job. Most of the stuff pops right out. You should not have any problems. I speak from experience when I tell you that dyes and paint will noty hold up. Your seriously better off getting the actual black parts from Fritz Flynn or someone else. The paint will scratch off super easy (and I did alot of prep work to try avoiding that) The dye's, I don't know. The **** rubs off on your hands and clothes and makes a mess. Maybe you will have better luck but I did about a good a job trying as anyone could possibly do and in the end I just bought the real parts.

Good luck with it.

yeah i remember when you did that to your interior.... and i kept that in mind, i have been looking forever for the black parts but no luck, i ended up with a passenger door panel, divider and bins, so i figured that these door panels and plastics will be thrown away after i get all the black stuff, and finally decided that dyes and paints will have to do for now cuz rotorfest is around the corner.

like i said.... we shall see how this turns out come rotorfest https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

dave... what brand dye's did you use, cuz i spoke to someone that works with leather and apholstery for a living and he recommended SEM

ooooh, am i going to meet the notorious fikse?

i thought your interior was black already? but i have never really seen alot of interior pictures, or just never paid attention.

We pulled ours, hardest part of course is the main dash, the rest of it is a breeze. Work from the back to the front.

FikseRxSeven 07-01-2005 06:09 PM

hahahahha... you never saw pics of my interior, cuz i make it a point not to show it... its tan and dusty and dirty and messy

That is exactly what brand I used. It didn't hold up on anything excepet the door panels. The door panels came out the best. It will not stick on the hard plastics though like the vents etc. Same with the bins and side panels.

make sure they are clean and scuffed good, hope you make it in time for RF.

Remember- multiple thin coats are better then heavy ones

No doubt, thin tack coats and one nice even coat with a nice overlap on the fan, if bomb can spray can be called a fan. I wouldn't use a bomb can dye either, better off using a plastic bond primer and paint, followed with a compatible clear. If you armor-all-ed or dressed them the prep will be extensive.
