i didn't think seperating the relase collar from the pressure plate was hard at all... push the clutch fork all the way back so it is seated all the way in the pressure plate, insert the screwdriver between the bearing and the little collar on the pressure plate... and while releasing the pressure on the clutch fork gently pry the two apart... real easy once i figured out how...

if you have low miles on your clutch, can you just use emory paper on the flywheel? and can you use the same pilot bearing... the car has about 20,000 on the stock clutch and thats why i'm replacing it (for a friend)... but he would rather save the money buying all the sst's if he doesn't need to... what do you guys think?

I have an ACT s/s kit and I love it (I can chirp third with no trouble, and I have new Toyo T1S tires). The pedal is harder to push but it makes your leg stronger - It isn't too bad of a job, the biggest problem is getting the car high enough off the ground to do it. I needed my clutch in the middle of winter and the garage floor wasn't very inviting due to the temperature so I took my car to the RX-7 store in Columbus. They installed the clutch for about $270 in labor. They also had the best price around on that particular clutch. It was done and ready to go in less than a day.

damm it seems in the onl one who went with the wrong clutch.. act 4 puck, very hard to press clutch, and it engages harshly, o well after relearning stick shift, i can daily drive my car.. haha. if you drive on the street, make sure u go for a disc type clutch.

yea i didnt go with a puck setup, supposedly sprung puck makes it more streetable but i went with a normal disc. i got a price quote, 300 to resurface f/w and install the new clutch, im gonna go for that as soon as i get the money
