royal purple is too expensive and has no better results that a good valvoline oil. sorry, i do not put too much faith into a company that has to change the color of their oil and make it a huge marketing scam.........nothing but a regular synth blend, but "hey, purple is cool"

honestly......what is a synthetic "really" good for? SUPER HOT and SUPER COLD climates.......really.....so what.....the actual qualities of a synthetic are really not good unless you are sunk in the middle of a iceburg trying to relive the titanic or are dipping your engine in the depths of mount killamanjaro.......seriously.......synths were made to perform at like -100* and above 300/400*.....if your car is subjected to those kinds of temps it wont work anyway....

IMO, synthetic oils were created, and because americans are sooo gullible, it went over well.....another successful marketing scheme.....

just go to precisionlubricants.com and get some info. if you need any assistance, call and speak with the owner.....he can really set you straight as to what oils are for what and why.....

The way I always understood it, having an oil that will perform above 300/400* is precisely why so many people end up using in on FDs. Even though the turbos are water cooled, they still subject the oil to some extremely high temps. Add to that the way the oil is used to help cool the rotors, and it looks like the rotary is harder on oils than a piston engine.

I'll agree with your argument when talking about a NA 4-banger, but I've always understood the rotary in general, and turbo'd rotary in particular to be much harder on oils.

Funny thing about "water cooled" turbos...is that the water doesn't cool down the turbo's, it cools down the OIL PASSAGES that oil travels thru to cool down the turbo.

I have the same exact leak, I'm thinking it's the omp o ring. I'm not sure, that omp is a bitch to get to. Are you burning oil also?..
The car is not burning oil just leaking...I'll look at this Oring you're talking about...

The leak seems like it is coming underneath the water pump area....

The car, I'm pretty sure was smoking oil at start up and it stop after it idled for a minute..

I did notice that my oil pressure was really high (around 8) driving around @4-5krpm

Also I notice smoke coming from underneath the car, droplets of oil is underneath the main cat...err....

Does anybody know if there is something I could use like "stop leak" or something???

Ok, what does OMP stand for?

But as for synth. i have been running Castrol, synth from day one and 50,000 miles later not one drip or leak. I have a bit of racing background, and frankly synth makes a big difference in tran, dif, and engines that burn a little oil, like rotories, 2 strokes or run really hot. They tend to be slipperier, and penetrate a little better. Having said that, i have 2 Hondas, and Triumph and don't use Synth in those engines.
