took the car out for a drive today passed a pretty hot z06 with a young guy in it in the turning lane on the highway. noticed he got out and followed me so we decided to play. we slowed to high 2nd gear and did something like a 40 punch, he was slacking a little till the end of second and by the end of third i had about 3 and a half cars give or take on him.

stupid me says yes to another race and sure enough i get on it in second and along with all the norm noises i hear the dreaded pshhh and feel very sluggish. pfc is registering .36 bar instead of .95...... not fun.

anyway head home took apart all piping from turbo to throttle body except lower intercooler outlet and the intercooler itself. i made sure there were no visable holes or loose clamps nothing.

i dont think its a vacuum hose problem seeing as i just tested the car after putting all piping back to see a good flat boost curve with the slight 4500 dip. the turbos sound fine like theyre working great im just not seeing the boost pressure go above .36

i was warned that running this high of boost (.95 bar maybe 14+ lbs) on the stock intercooler wouldnt last due to its plastic end tanks. could it have cracked under boost. intake temps always stay around 46 C. i dont know.

i checked the gasket from throttle body to elbow that wasnt it either. any ideas or if people just wanna stary telling me ill fix the problem by buying a greddy front mount and installing it finally giving me the excuse ive always needed that would be great as well . thanks

easy, you cracked the lower ic line going from the y to the ic. there will be no holes and it is impossible to tell, but take that s curved pipe and squeeze the rubber, you will most definitlly find a crack in the part that faces your main drive belt. ive done mine two times already and went to home depot to build me some cast iron ones haha.

if you have polished pipes then check the connections to the pipes, like from the y to the actual pipe going by the alternator.

trust me those suckers crack OFTEN! i did mine in 2 months of driving, two times.

You blew a line off somewhere, double check all of them. Or get another set of eyes to look.

blowing a vac line will make your idle irratic, and make your car run like ***. if the car sounds PERFECTLY normal without boost, it isnt a vac line. if it sounds like its hissing somewhere when the engine isnt under boost then check those lines.

papa smurf's the man! haha u were right there was a huge 3 inch crack in the intake end of the i/c piping right where u said. i totally overlooked it while disassembling, those damn bands give the pieces a deceivingly secure appearance. anyway ill figure out a quick fix for now but im gonna get the greddy asap

thanks papa for relieving me of some stress
