Thanks for all the advice guys, now if someone can just tell me how to get the wife off my back about buying it!! I really didn't want to drive it at all until I had a chance to go through and make sure it was in excellent running condition. I will get started this weekend.

Later

well got the car home and haven't had the time to really work on it much. To be honest I am having a hard time with all the abreveations that you guys are using. Feel really stupid saying that but WTF. I am starting out trying to ground the engine properly. I noticed that the ground by the UIM "don't kno what that means" isn't grounded so I don't know what else has been tampered with. Next I am going to start on the gulp vacuum lines. The car floods every time it is shut off for more then 20 seconds I mean it dumps fuel into the rotors when it is running it runs like really slow until around 3k but at around 4.5k it makes a funky sound like the wastegate just dumps the boost into the exhaust. I haven't stepped on it for fear of damaging something. So many things to do just need to find out what to do!! Thanks for any assistance or any other things I should consider.

first, congratz...

second, UIM=Upper Intake Manifold.

third, maybe I missed it in your posts but is the car all stock? I'm assuming it might not be cuz someone messed with the vac hoses. maybe take some pictures... on one hand, it gives us some eye candy... while on the other, it may be helpful pointing out where you could find certain engine components, something may just look out of place, or etc...

just my .02... and I hardly chime in...

Yep all stock as far as I can tell. I will take lots of pics and nothing really looks out of place, I guess I will just tear into it and see what I can find. You are not located in Vancouver Washington are you??? I am in Portland Or. might have to call you if you don't mind!!

racer x,

I'm still very much on the learning curve with my car too, so not to worry about not knowing the abbreviations. If you haven't already seen them, these sites were a good starting point for me. I think there's a glossary section with terms and abbreviations on the Robinette site. Another thing I would recommend before you really start taking things apart is a repair manual, available in CD ROM at nearly any given moment on Ebay or from the third link.

There is also the "other" forum that can be a good source of info, but make sure to do a search before posting anything.

BTW, any advice yet on that "wife" thing? Good luck.
