also, i'll be using a crank angle sensor from a 2nd gen.

another question...would i need to use a FD ignitor with the FD coils. or one from an FC would work? or could i get any ignitor from any car?

i run a fd ignitor, s5 crank angle sensor, 4 boshe coils. i wired the ignitor so the leading coils have a full strength wasted spark. you need to wire both leading coils together off the ignitor with seporate 12v going to each coil. works great but can be a pain to time properly though so bare that in mind. i should mention i use a wolf 3d ecu and not a stock mazda computer. ill get the diagram scanned but do a serch i have posted it on this forum 2 times prior.

i'll most likely be using a Megasquirt. unless when i get to that stage, i feel like dropping the money on a Microtech. plus, i will not be doing the tuning. most likely Kilo racing will (jesus padilla).

i thought about using 4 seperate coils. but i had the FD coils sitting there in great condition. plus there nice and compact for a nice look with a custom bracket.

but what i got from your post is, i could use any ignitor, with any coil. just wire them correctly.

thanks.
