how much power can it handle
#1
hey im upgrading a bunch of parts on my fd3s over the winter and i was wondering if anyone could tell me how much power the stock tranny can take and where you can get aftermarket ones. also how much power can the frame with front and rear stabilizer bars, diff and axles take?

For the most part, the transmission is not the weakest link in the driveline. As with anything, it will eventually become the weakest link by strengthening other areas which will break first.
1. Differential
2. Axles
For drag racing, you'll break the stock diff first. After you upgrade that, you'll then break the axles. Of course, all of this depends on your power levels and tires being used.

Brian,
Order Rx7.com's traction kit, and replace all the bushings in the rear first. Wheel hop and traction are what really breaks parts. Axles and diff are what goes first. You can use either an s4 clutch type diff in the FD case, or a Kaaz unit. A few places sell upgraded axles. Don't forgot about getting a new driveshaft, and a diff bars/braces.
