big problemo.......................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!! as u all know i got a sweet car last week and the engin is blown the engin itself is away at hurly rotary geting a rebuild but i got a replacement to do me for time being the thing is i droped the replacement in and it wont start..... it just blows out white smoke whitch is a sign of unburnd petrol but is this due to lack of compression or are my sparkplugs just fanayed up i want some viepouints b4 i go buy a enw compresion tester or set of spitfires eithere way its gona cost me £50 so whitch do u think it is........................personaly i think the engin is fucked but it would be nice if its just the plugs or sumat small like that

you could do a poor mans compression test. pull the plugs and you should feel three hard thumps.

go to the bottom and type in compression test and a few good articles will come up.

White smoke is coolant (not good). Blue is oil and black is fuel.

check to see it your vac line to the MAP sensor is hooked up. It is the little black box mounted to the fire wall. Mine was disconnected and my FD ran bad and wouldn't even start sometimes.

Make sure its not flooded and yes definitely check the map sensor.

I guess you've checked that you have spark. Pull the plugs- are they wet with fuel? If this is the case then maybe try the oil sealup method- get some automatic tranny/power steering fluid into the rotor chambers either through the spark plug holes or inlet manifold nipples. When these motors flood, they lose compression and won't start.



Maybe even try a tow start with another car. Blowing smoke could be bad or could just be crud inside the engine form sitting for a long period.



Try to start it first then start looking at your options. Keep us posted.
