I have not shared any of my projects lately.
Anyway here are some ducts I am making this week for Peter Hahns Crooked willow oil cooler kit with the Rotary Extreme 99 front. I had to carve the plugs and havve both sides in resin now. I am going to go ahead and glass them up tomorrow. I think the plan is to get these to Peter for his trip to VIR. Then once he can get the car over here I will go ahead and test fit and correct the plug where needed. I made my plug off a set of the original CRW ducts that were hacked up by a body shop as you can see in the picture. Pics. |
Another one that I have chipping away at is AC panel blanks. I have been working on the plug and mold for this for a while now. I have tried a few different aproaches with this. I am about to try another run this weekend. Here is a picture of the plug as of now.

sweet.... what did you make the plug out of? I need to make a few odds and ends like this also.

Woweeee! Good **** Dave! One of the things I've always, always wanted to learn is mold making and composite layup, but I alwyas seem to have better/more alcoholic things to spend that extra cash on.

Another one that I wanted to do make isa carbon fiber UIM cover. I know this is not orginal. But it seems easyt enough and I was going to give it a go. I have started to mock up a manifold and throttle body so I could start working on a mold. I have not really gotten to far with this yet because all the other stuff i got going on. I hope to get this one turned out in a couple of weeks.
I ended up using dry foam that is used in floral arrangements. It's cheap and is super easy to carve and shape. It makes a huge mess though. So all you do is carve the shape coat it in resin, fix any imperfections with glazing putty then give it a few coats with a release wax. Then it's ready for glass |
