uh...STi is a race car sold on the street, its meant for rallying and therefor has to perform on a number of different types of surfaces, ie: dirt, gravel, sand, snow, ice, and tarmac. The RX7 is totally meant for the street/racetrack. It is a far better handling car out of the box on tarmac than an STi. But the STi, like the WRX, are homologation chassis meant to allow the Impreza to compete in the WRC, and due to their success, are sold as a regular part of the lineup. When was the last time you saw an FD on gravel?

Dont get me wrong I love the FD, hence me wanting to buy and build one, but if you look at what they are built for, the STi is actually a better all around performer and has much better build potential (as in you can build it for track or rally or touring or rallycross etc).
there's no such thing as an "all around" racecar. fd was built to go fast on the pavement, sti is a comprimise of all kinds of different racing surfaces, therefore it isn't profecient at any of them. I guess we can start calling ford focuses racecars that are sold on the street as well.

I love the "WRX is a rally car!" mentality, while true, I think...wait yes...I'm postive...all the roads I drive on are paved.
LOL It's fine and all that the WRX shines on snow/dirt/gravel but seriously...when am I going to race one on there? Never? Right.
Seriously though, I think the WRX makes the best backup DD to an FD, heck, if my pocket was big enough, I'd have one.
