I say 1.3L. but the problem is that when the domestic drivers get embarrassed when a little 80 ci motor beat the living hell out of their 302, 350, ets...they have to come up with an excuse that justifies their loss.

example:

well...drrr...it... its a 2-stroke!

not exactly, it has 4 seperate strokes just like a piston engine. (strokes only). The dispute is that a rotary engine makes one power stroke for every 1 rotation of the crank (eccentric shaft). and a piston motor makes one power stroke for every 2 revolutions of the crank shaft. Therefore, piston guys argue that its effective displacement must be doubled to equally compare.

Thus, its power output is similar to that of a 2.6L V6 because of the way the rotary is designed. But when talking about soley displacement...its 1.3L of V8 eating fury (most of the time).

I had one guy tell me that if I was going to keep calling my engine a 1.3L, he was going to start calling his 5.7L a 2.85L. I guess the hard ons that live by "there is no replacement for displacement" just cant deal with it. The fact is that You dont measure a 4-stroke piston engine like a 2-stroke motor...you measure it like a ******* 4-stroke piston engine...and you dont measure a rotary like a piston engine...simple as that.

Mazda 13B, 13B-RE, 13B-REW = 1.3L or ~80 CID.

I might be wrong...someone let me know if I am.
