ethanol conducts electricity, so you have to make sure you don't get sparks!

okay so maybe I should be looking at an external fuel pump? if so does anyone have any suggestions of what size and brand??

I personally don't think you'll have any problems.... But I guess you could try to be safe...

I am PISSED!!!!

I just went to the E85 website and found out that there are ZERO E85 refueling stations in California.

You would think that out of all of the states that Cali would want the most stations.



I HATE C.A.R.B. (California Air Resources Board)



I am now on a mission to get E85 at my local station.



If anyone else from Cali thinks the same way, start going to your local gas stations and asking when they plan on having E85 available!!!



If I can have easy access to E85 I would convert to it in a heartbeat.

Any updates on this conversion??

Ok I know this post is old but I had a 05 rx8 and I'm thinking of buying it back but want to do a e85 conversion if I do. Now I've looked up alot about e85 and seen its has the higher octane and not as corrosive as methanol and has alot less carbon build up then regular gas which is good for the rotory Cus that's what killed the motor in my 8 in the first place. So with what I've gathered is you need 30% more fuel then regular gas so if in theory I got 30% bigger injectors I could run e85 ? Right I mean on a normal car you need to mess with timing but there is non on a rotory so it's should be that easy?

Starting in 1995 some percentage of all cars and light trucks sold by each manufacturer had to be E-10 compatible. That left thousands of cars and trucks not yet compatible, and when all fuels in any area went to E10 those vehicles were damaged by swollen seals and disolved gaskets. Millions down the drain caused by greedy farmers and stupid tree huggers. I was towing a trailer from Houston Texas to Columbus Ohio and saw a station with E85. I got a tank full as my 1999 Dodge van was E85 compatible. Look for a sticker on the inside of the gas door.

As you would expect, 30% less power. If it has such a sticker it needs no tuning at all. Otherwise don't us E85.

I don't think that's right ethanol isn't corrosive methanol is and ethanol leaves less carbon has higher octane and burns faster being that its alcohol based but I've seen several cars even my own srt4 caliber which is not suited to run e85 fun it in measured amounts and have seen no corrosion of any rubbers or gaskets
