well i undid the pulley bolt a while back for some mundane reason...

since then i left the bolt undone, and have been turning the engine by hand again for no aparant reason...

then i read such things as this

http://reganrotaryracing.tripod.com/unxhoror.htm

could i have put the engine out of allighnment? and if so will i have to rebuild before i start her up?

i kinda need some wisdom here, and possibly a step by step procedure to know if i have rooted anything

any help terribly appreciated

Peace

you may have released required tension to keep everything in place..

only way to be certain is to remove the front cover and inspect..

which means you would have to yank the motor. You could have gotten lucky though...

leaving that bolt off without tension could cause the needle bearings to drop out of place if it was moved incorrectly

Man,

I would be really weary of just taking it on blind faith.

It isnt THAT much work to yank the motor out, pop off the oil pan and front cover...

chances are good that you dropped the bearing when spinning it around..,

why did you take off the bolt anyways?

as far as i know, thats the only bad thing that could happen with taking off the front main bolt.

its really hard to check and properly place the needle bearings with the motor in the enginebay.

apoligies guys, i must have not explained myself properly... let me rephrase...

the engine is out of the car at the moment, and has been for quite some time...

this is my project

Size: 54.7 KB

this chevron used to have a 13b in it, but it was using the old front engine mounted system...

i had to change the front cover on the 13brew so i could sit the engine in place, and then weld new mounts based on the s6 mounts.. it has been done, and looks promising

the engine is currently sitting on my workbench while i try to work out what has to be done

i will take the front cover off again and swap it back to the s6 one now that i have the engine mounted correctly

while i am doing that i will check that the needle bearings are still where they are supposed to be

thanks heaps guys ill try to keep you up to date as i fail to accomplish meadial tasks

Peace

Put the motor on a engine stand and face the clutch upward. If you pull up on the clutch and feel a little play, your probably ok. If you feel NO PLAY more than likely you crushed the needle bearing and may have to replace it.
