Clutches

[quote name='boostin13b' date='Jul 21 2005, 01:35 PM']After using plenty of clutches, I will only use RPS on my cars now. The RPS MAX 6 Puck sprung for FD's is unbelievable for street cars. Holds plenty, and is very streetable. It's not an on and off engagement like the ACT's. Not an extremely hard pedal either. I use these clutches in all the cars I build, including my own cars, my SR swaps, built or stock, My supra's that I build, and FD's. I've been talking with RPS about building a Carbon Carbon for FD's, but I don't know many FD guys that are willing to spend $2400 on a clutch.

do you have a website for the rps?

[quote name='FikseRxSeven' date='Jul 20 2005, 08:08 PM']you can try exedy hyper single, it is rebuildable for when you eventually burn the disc. its less than 1000 dollars, and its rated for over 400 hp.... and streetable

where? is that with the flywheel and all? i was quoted $1500 plus install i think.
[quote name='sweet7' date='Jul 22 2005, 04:04 PM']I used to run an ACT clutch. It grabbed well and definately put the power to the ground, but it was pretty harsh for street driving.

[quote name='fc3sboy1' date='Jul 19 2005, 05:01 PM']go twin disk or a clutch that is not a pull type like the factory, get a push type clutch, os giken might i sugjest.

Why do you suggest he get a push type? Based on what I have read the pull type setup is the better of the two designs.
I have an ACT Street/Strip with a heavy duty pressure plate and am very happy with it. I was thinking about ‘upgrading’ to a 6-puck, but then I had an enlightening conversation with a tech guy at ACT. According to the person I spoke to the Street/Strip will outlast their 6 puck under normal driving conditions because it withstands gradually engagement better than the 6-puck. However, the 6 puck holds up to drop-clutch launches better than the S/S. Therefore, I think it depends on how you drive. For most people I believe the best combination is a streetable clutch disk with a heavy pressure plate to ensure there is no in-gear slip.
