I think the FD can be a daily driver. As long as there is time for proper warm-up and cool-down.

i drive my car as a daily driver and i dont think that i get problems in excess of any other car that is the same age
i drive his car to school 5days a week and work 3 times a week and it has no problems as of now. just gotta not beat on it all the time, proper cool down and warm up and and stuff like that

My dad has a FD w/ a Mazda Factory Reman in it. Fresh turbos, downpipe, Pettit intake. He drives 80 miles a day to and from work. He is always blowing away some rich dude in his bmw or boxter its funny. He calls me at least once a week to tell me about his latest kills. He has been driving it for a year now problem free.

The most important thing to do if you buy the car is give it a once over. Fuel filter, plugs wires, coolent flush and a new Mazda OEM thermostat, then get a downpipe and wrap it. The heat from the precats is murder on the rear turbo and rear rotor housing. Get rid of the plastic expansion tank and replace it w/ a metal one. There a few reliability mods that need to be done and you will have a problem free car. My dads is proof of that.
