okay i admit it, i need some guidance on installing this thing. i thought the hose went directly to the nipple on the passenger side of the uim but the guage instructions confused me (see pic below)..also i read something else about cutting the hose close to the motor and inserting a pill(?) or fitting in there to get more accurate readings??

Also, i couldn't read wiring diagrams if my life depended on it. Any advice on what illumination wires are the easiest to tap into?

Lastly, where'd you guys ground to?

thanks alot fellas,

mr. inept

OK run the hose off the UIM nipples that are on the passenger side of the UIM.

Then tap your 12v off the fuse panel by the hood release.

Th esmall pill is there so that the boost gauge doesnt read super fast. Just put it in the line anywher by the firewall.

the 3 prong is meant to bi-sect a hose.. ie, you cut a boost hose, you install the 3nipple connector, so that the air still flows through the hose, and the last "prong" or nipple is used to go to the boost gauge...

vacuum (boost) line

hope that helps...

Fritz, you'll love the DEFI boost gauge. I constantly get asked if it's stock! Also, I connected the illum wire to the power lead for the cigarette lighter illumination ring. It works beautifully. No wires to pull through the firewall or up the center console, and I get accurate dimming of the gauge. Also, I have never heard about the pill before, but the DEFI gauge works perfectly without. never had a problem with that sucker. The hardest part was routing the rubber hose through the fender and around and up to the steering column.

Yeah, Mine is also wired to the cigerette thingy and also connected to the dimmer so it works with all the other little lights in their.

If it's an illumated gauge I'd hook it into the wire for the little light for the center console. That way it will illuminate only when your other gauges do.
