Drag radials suck for street use. They are designed so that you can safely drive to the track, but not mean for every day use. Your handling will suffer, and the car will feel weird around turns with the mismatched tires. If anything buy some good sticky tires for daily use, and an extra pair of rims and drag radials for the track. I personally like Toyo T1-S. I'm on my 2nd set and love them. Vosko, no wonder your times sucked! You bought the wrong tires! I've gotten a 2.0 60" on street rubber. Is 1.8 really that much better?

well due to the amount of time it would take to get the 555r's in, i've decided to go with the bfgoodrich comp drags. 255/50/16's but will they fit on my car with the stock wheels? if not, how can i MAKE them fit? vosko, if you could please explain the rolling of fenders to me...
They will fit fine on your stock wheels. Keep in mind your tire will now be 1/2" larger in every direction. You probably won't have a clearance issue. You will be more likely to bog the car on the launch, due to higher traction and the fact that you tire is 5% taller than stock.

Vosko, why did you buy an autocross / road race tire for drag racing?

I don't drag race but I've been pretty happy with my stock size TOYO T1S tires. In my opinion TOYO makes the highest quality tires around. They sometimes let out a few squeels under very hard cornering but they stick pretty well and have a predictable break away pattern.

I also like the DUNLOP SP8000 because it's reasonably prices and has a very linear break away characteristic which makes it fun to toss your car around.

Wow, this surprises me. I picked up a set of T1-S's after I wore through my dunlop sp8000, and regretted not getting the Dunlop's again. The Toyo's don't seem to have near the grip in the dry. In the wet on the other hand, they're great...too bad I live in a desert.

forget about Goodyear eagle F1!! had 'em before. if you want sweet street tires the Yokohama AVS sport are great! very stiff sidewall.

I am running Yokohama A032R (nearly slicks but street legal in here). those rule! you can choose between soft and super soft. but don't hit the rain with 'em

i dont care about rain no matter what other say about "accidentally getting stuck" in it. im going to buy a set of 18's for cruising around and whatever (either specially painted gunmetal bbs's or the black volk's) then i will get handling tires. my stock wheel set will do fine for track use. If i do break my rear end, thats a great time to get a beefed up one.
