very good point. . . very, very good point. you have intrigued me. i would almost assume that the baffles should not be bent though. just straight into the region they are supposed to go to. by putting a bend there, you might lose some flow. if it it has a lesser degree of angle it might be a little more optimal. all in all, you have a very good idea there. might make for some rather large endtanks, though.

On my particular setup I have to come in from the top of the tank like the picture (unavoidable) the tank will be 2.5 in wide and there will be 4 baffles at .625 in apart from each other. As long as the baffles all evenly and with the same resistance throughout the chambers I believe it will come very close to becoming a constant temperature throughout the core (no hot spots/cold spots) causing the IC to become as close to even thermal transfer as possible.

I think from what I have learned that it is definitely better to use a curved surface rather than use a sharp corner when flowing any material. It tends to cause eddies and non laminar flow which is defiantly not good when you are trying to flow a lot of material through a small area.

yeah i thought about what i said after i posted that. it would be like having a 90 deg ANGLE instead of mandrel bent tubing in your intake tract. very good point. i like it. . . you may have inspired me to scrap my endtanks and do something in this order. rock on!!!

The only problem with the RX7Fashion IC that I have personally seen is you are gonna have a HUGE pressure drop due to the piping and all of the bends contained therein. A good friend of mine was running that setup with BNR stage 2 twins, just so you have a background, along with a Power FC. He measured pressure on Y pipe and then again at the intake elbow. I can't remember the exact psi drop, but it was enough to make him change IC's!! He loved the IC and it worked good, but he was making his turbo's work way too hard to supply the right amount of boost to the engine. Just my experience with it. I still love the look/size of that thing though. It looks sooooo good.

thats the major reason im not wanting to install this ic. i have a liquid/air intercooler sitting around that i wanted to install, but am afraid it might heatsoak too much. im pulling my hair out with all this mumbojumbo!!!

if anyone is interested in the apex ic, i've got a used core w/ endtanks that i'm selling. it's the huge skyline core and it has a much better (traditional) endtank design than the rx7 fashion intercooler. buyer just needs to supply custom piping to make it work. i'm selling it for $700 obo plus shipping, pm me if you're interested. that rx7 fashion kit retails for about $1800 new.
