Airpumpless Converter?

The airpump is for idling.. Under driving conditions, the motors EGT's are high enough to keep the catalyst hot, but at idle the airflow is less. The airpump injects air into the cat to keep it hot.

I'd be careful relocating the cat, it seems that you would want it in a place that has a heat shield on the underbody to prevent burning the paint or superheating the metal. I know that the cats have a heat shield on them, but a relocation might require fabbing of a heat sheild for the car as well.

You can't run most high flow cats without the airpump?
