Why? Unless he's got a PFC, going without will probably make it idle like crap. Not to mention risking a plugged cat. And if he goes to a mid-pipe he has the sound and smell to deal with. The only advantage is for a little more space under the hood, and I agree that would be nice. But IMHO, if he's still mostly stock, keep it.

It also cools the rotar housings in the stock configuration. Besides it's off at WOT and after 3000 rpm.

The stock ECU had no problem on mine when I had disabled when it locked up.

I know that some don't, that's why I said "probably", since the exact effect doesn't seem to be universal. But I've also heard that some cars will idle so lumpy that they have to set the idle up pretty high just to keep it from stalling.
