I have a 93 R1 with about 54k miles. For a while now I have had trouble putting the car into 5th gear. Anybody know what is wrong and how much it usually costs to fix. I have heard of other people with the same problem. Thanks for any anformation in advance

5th gear syncro going bad, You have to disassemble the trans to fix. Cost depends where you take it. @least $1100

 

drive it till it breaks in the mean time scower the junk yards for a replacement!!!!!!

 

Very common problems among FD's. All FD's for that matter. If i were you i'd be saving up some money for a trans overhaul. Probably be your synchros. Good luck

Working on getting remote control door openers. Getting rid of the door handles will really freak people out when they look at the car. I will let everyone know how it goes and take some pictures.

 

Yeah 5th gear synch suck when they go but if you wait for the RPMs to drop it will not grind.
