Flooring On 5th Gear
the other day i learned not to floor the gas when i have less than a quarter tank of gas, and now i know the reason why.
today someone told me not to floor the gas when in 5th gear. whats the logic to that...... i can always use the extra knowledge.
i mean now im just gunna downshift to 4th ..... thats easy enough. just wanted to know why its bad though
thanks

There is no reason to not floor it in 5th. Dont pay attention to whoever told you that. The only thing would be if it is quite hot out, running in too high of a gear under too high of a load for an extended period of time will make you overheat. That is why there are always people pulled over on the side of the road when you go up a really long steem mountain pass in the summer.

Don't floor it and keep it floored in 5th gear. especially
if you going slower than say 90mph. especially if your
rx7 has been modded up for higher boost and free flowing
exhaust. IF your car is stock. Hey Go ahead floor it in any
gear. regardless of speed.
I believe thats how I popped my motor.. Being lazy and
not downshifting. going about 45-50, passing some ***
hole going slower than the speedlimit on 495. Anyways
I cruising about 50mph @ maybe 3000rpms or SO..
Gunned her in 5th gear.. BOost built then Crept, then PING.
always better to be safe than sorry.. money for my bodykit
hood and new paint job, going to a new motor..

This is what i have been told,
Puts alot of stress on the motor when you do this. I'm modded, so mabye thats the difference. Ypu are pretty close to stock performance wise martin, so i think you may be ok.

i agree if the speed is ok 5th acceleration is fine. but passing at 45-70 in fifth is just damn hard on the engine we have little torque period even less at like 2,500 rpm. you wouldn't accelerate on your ten speed from a slow roll in high gear why do it in your car.
