Ok, so when I got this car I was planning on doing a conversion but ended up not having the money. Anyways, can anyone give me a list of all the parts I will need to do the converson so I can start buying and preparing now for the future when I do have the money. Thanks. Also, if anyone has any advice who has done this swap before, like for example what's the best flywheel if my engine is stock, etc...

Here I am chiming in. The most important info that you might not find is the length of the transmission bolts, which I just happen to have.

You need:

(4) 10M 1.25 pitch 55mm lenth

(1) 10M 1.25 pitch 90mm lenth

Here is what I know off the top of my head, if I remember anything else I will post it up.

transmission

driveshaft

rear diff if you want 4.10 instead of 3.90 which the auto comes with

Clutch and flywheel - (I would buy new just because you will be in there) - no need for a counterweight as the automatic one will be fine.

Clutch master and slave cylinders

clutch line and some hard brake line

pedals

engine harness

dash harness - if you really want to, its not needed but recommended due to pins and certain things not working, jut ask my brother he prob won't want to talk about it

ecu

gauge cluster - does not have the RND Hold lights and the redline is different - you can swap out your speedo to save your mileage as it is not stored in the ecu

Cap the auto trans cooler lines or just get a new radiator

starter

I can't think of anything else right now. I hope that helps

Tara

Wrong, no floor cutting and only a total of about 3 feet of hard line to run for the clutch and add a stainless steel clutch line. It taps right into the brake resevoir.

Thanks! With the rear diff., would you recommend going ahead with the manual trans or keep the auto? Of course I'm going to source some of the more expensive parts used, so if anyone has a good manual tranny or any other parts that are in good condition let me know. If I go ahead with the swap I am getting it done at PF supercars so I know it will be done right.

keep the auto diff. Otherwise, Ill trade with ya!

But to be honest, sounds like you have a pretty stock FD. I would sell your FD and pick up a manual and save yourself a headache... and time.

Yea I have considered that. Currently I have the base model, black cloth seats no sunroof etc. which is what I want, a lot of the manual FD's for sale are touring or R-models that I can't afford. I still do look every once in awhile though for any good deals on 5 speeds.

Friend of mine just picked up MB Base model 5SP running in ATL 2 weeks ago.

ITs out there.. you just need to look.

I would never do 5 speed swap over buying a 5 sp. When you start adding parts and time it will take (labor if you are not going to do it yourself) you'll realized those "touring or R-models" you are talking about seem cheap! Trust me, I've seen people spend 6+ months tracking down tranny, parts, etc trying to do a 5 sp swap. Don't waste your time!

Unless you love messing with your car.. but if I recall....
