I have been thinking, will the RX8 6 speed transmission mount up to a 4 port 13B engine in a 1st gen without any modifications? Any help would be appreciated. I know the 6 speeds aint too cheap either.

I don't see why it would be worth it. The transmission seems to be the weakest link in the RX-8.

I would only want it for highway use. Instead in 5th gear at 3500 RPM, I could get down to maybe 2500. Could save gas.

The RX-8 tranny is like super electronic isnt it? I didnt like it at all. My parents leased an RX-8 for a year when it first came out. The transmission feeled like crap. If I wanted highway cruising, I'd either switch the rear end gears, or switch the transmission gears if I wanted to go that far. Besides, you could buy a showroom condition FB for the price of that 6 speed gearbox.

Yeah, I really dont know what the 6 speed RX8 box costs at all. I was just thinking about it on the way back, if I had another gear. Thanks, disreguard this post.
