jsut wondering if the stock tranny gears are able to hit 200 mph? if not what would be a good gearing?
|
I'm pretty sure it has more to do with your rear end ( final drive ).
Manual FD's have a 4.10 A Auto has a 3.73 i think So the Auto rear end would be better for top speed But i dont see why a 4.10 cant hit 200 with enough power behind it. |
4.10's might be pushing it a little. Do you plan on driving 200mph anytime soon?
|
auto is 3.90
I think there is enough gear stock but good luck with that... How fast have you been? 165-170 feels like you are in a time warp.. |

what blew his engine? bad luck? or is there more stress on it at high speeds? |
I think I read that the FD is geared for 201 mph.

had mine to about 175 indicated also. I need my ass kicked for that too. There is no reason the car needs to go that fast if not on a track or you're attempting to break the speed record for the FD class or something at Bonneville.
It's kinda scary at that speed. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png If you are seriously gonna try to break 200 mph.... do some serious investment in some real aerodynamic work. (watch the racing beat video from about 1994-5) |
