1994 Fd Vs. 2000 Audi A4 1.8t quattro what to buy?

Im 19, have a Jspec Probe Gt, with engine swap, etc , lots of mods , yea yea yea, i blew that engine. the car is worth nothin now. (just the fd rims i have are worth sumthin)



im gonna keep it as a project car / extra car that i can slap the dealer plates onto.



I just got a job as a waiter at PF Changs rest. which is supposed to bring me a lot of money, hopefully. i moved there from Chase bank, which is hard long hours for less pay than a waiter.



Anyway, The Rx7 has been my dream car ever since I was 7 or 8 back when she first came out. ( enter- movie - "Fast getaway and #2) remember! the red fd!



I was going to buy one until i found out about the Audi a4. (B5 1997-2001)This thing just swept me off my feet (modded versions)



Very appealing , quattro, luxurious, and decently quick w/ a few upgrades- and a new and upcoming aftermarket support.



Im a car dealer. I can get the A4 For about 8-9k (2000) w/ decent mileage. But, the Fd's at the auction are still upward of 9k. One just went for 9100 and was labeled above average condition. The problem is that they are hard to find at the dealers auctions and i cant afford them retail price. (same w/ the audi)



id aim for a 94 bc minor adjustments were made to them.



Maintenance



A4

- over 60k- Needs new timing belt! (600 w/ installation)

-needs new control arms (200 + install)

-needs synthetic ( i was goin for it anyway)

-needs to run 93 (would do it anyway , same w/ fd)

-stock 150hp , hahahaa chip- 200hp ($300)

k04 turbo 240 awhp -- t3 t4 w/ custom software 268 awhp.



Rx7



- shitting bricks when you first get it ! dont know whats gonna go!

- needs silicone vac lines (2-300)

- leaks

- inspection

- realiability???? how many rotaries broke down??? / blown???

- bad turbos?



if im missing any issues on the fd please fill me in

If you are on a very limited budget, Dont get the FD.

I have heard numberous nightmare stories about the Fd. Yet mine has been great for the last 15 months of me dailying. I have had no problems w/ it. It has 69K now. I bought it w/ 60K on it. It all has to do w/ maintanence. If you can find one properly cared for then by all means get it. I think anyone buying a car w/o a warranty should always have a few dollars hidden for a rainy day.

A fd makes a much better toy than a car you have to rely on. I dailied mine ofr a couple of years but when something goes wrong (and it will at some point) It can get expensive and there are very few people that actually know how to properly service them. Your most likely better off with the Audi.

I have also had a great experience with my cars.



But then again, I can rebuild the engines when they die. I have had one of my personal car's motors take a ****, No big deal for me, but for someone without the means and knowledge it coulda gotten ulgy.

good point rfreeman27. I have built a couple of 13b's in the past and have plenty of parts laying around, so it doesn't scare me to pull the motor rebuild it and drop it back in.

It could be better for him to find a turbo II than a FD if he wants a turbo rotary. Prices are bit cheaper for the FC's.

your right about the fc's.



Im very able to do work, but have limited connects and no garage and cant pull engines.



The reason why i got a probe is bc it looks somethin like an Fd. i even run the fd rims on there in gunmetal.

If you really want a FD, then get one.



Just know that they can be costly.



Picking the right one is also important. You have to find one that hasnt been fucked up by somebody that doesent know what they are doing. And i hope you wolnt do the same to the car, it will make your life miserable
